The challenge

The modernisation feasibility for the Amman Central Market made clear that a meaningful upgrade of food-system efficiency, food safety, and supply-chain integrity may require more than a renovation of the existing 17-hectare site. The next-order question — where the modernised market should sit, on what footprint, with what relationship to Amman's growing logistics corridor, and on what transition timeline — became the brief for a dedicated follow-on study.

Greater Amman Municipality, with funding from the Royal Hashemite Court, commissioned the Relocation Feasibility Study to answer that question on a defensible evidence base. The mandate covers technical and locational due diligence, economic and financial assessment of relocation against modernisation-in-place, stakeholder impact analysis, and a phased transition pathway compatible with continuing operations.
